About

Bulent Koc is an Associate Professor in the Agricultural Mechanization and Business program within the Department of Agricultural Sciences. His research focuses on precision agriculture, agricultural power machinery, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), UGVs (unmanned ground vehicles), and both high and low-intensity ultrasound. The goal of his research is to develop innovative technologies and concepts in agricultural machine systems that increase crop yield, reduce production costs, minimize waste, and mitigate the environmental impact of agricultural practices.

Dr. Koc integrates sensors, instrumentation, and field robotics into his work to promote sustainable crop production. He also applies both high and low-intensity ultrasound for biomass processing. Recent and ongoing research projects include using unmanned aerial and ground systems to monitor pasture quality and quantity, mechanizing root collar excavation of peach trees to mitigate the effects of Armillaria root rot, and conducting real-time water quality assessment and water sampling.

His team designs and builds custom drones (UAVs), ground vehicles (UGVs), robotic systems, and agricultural machinery systems to help monitor crops, process materials, and handle agricultural tasks more efficiently.
